Instance in charge of relating the university community with the various sectors of society, through the establishment of agreements and collaboration agreements to carry out linkage and research and development projects that are integrated into university academic activities. It promotes cooperation, exchange and academic mobility with national and foreign higher education institutions to strengthen the comprehensive training of University students, as well as the establishment of strategic alliances with the national and international productive, public and private sectors, to that university scientific and technological developments translate into tangible social benefits; collaborates with sectors of public life in the country and society, to promote the transfer of knowledge that encourages analysis and proposals for solutions to regional and national problems.

This coordination includes the Cooperation and Inter-institutional Relations and Innovation Offices.

Dr. Gustavo Pacheco López

Biographical Note

Is a consolidated neuroscientist focused on the complex interactions among the central nervous, immune and endocrine systems: Integrative Behavioral Neuroscience.

With an interdisciplinary approach and working with humans and animal models, he successfully incorporates innovative methods, such as fMRI, µCT, bioimpedance spectroscopy, next-generation DNA sequencing, indirect in vivo calorimetry, biopotentials telemetry, among others.

Trained in Mexico, Germany and Switzerland Pacheco-Lopez previous working affiliations include UNAM, Mexico; CINVESTAV-IPN, Mexico; Duisburg-Essen University, Germany; ETH Zurich, Switzerland; Leiden University, the Netherlands.

Since 2011, Pacheco-Lopez is appointed in Mexico as full  time Professor at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM), Campus Lerma, appointed as Head of the Health Sciences Department (2011-15), Dean of the Health and Biological Sciences Division (2018-22), and from November 2022 serving as UAM Research Provost.

He is alumnus of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Mexican Science and Technology Council (CONACYT), and since 2007 he is fellow of the Mexican Researcher System (SNI), now recognized at the highest level (3).

He produced more that 80 publications, with an H-index=24, and more that 1,700 citations.

He successfully accumulates more than $2.5 millions USD in extramural funding.

Purpose

Contributing to the solution of national problems by linking the community with the different sectors of society, within the framework of agreements and collaboration agreements that relate teaching, research and the dissemination of culture with projects oriented to applied research exchange and academic mobility, accessing to specialized infrastructure, the generation of innovation ecosystems, sponsored and social service projects, among others, that allow effective coordination of institutional capacities with the social, public and productive environments, as well as expanding the range of possibilities to obtain goods, rights and other income, for the strengthening and reinforcement of the academic and administrative infrastructure.

Assignment

Integrate the University’s teaching, research, and dissemination of culture activities with its environment, by including the university community itself through research projects, scientific development, cultural dissemination and academic integration, among others, with opportunity, transparency, social responsibility, sustainability, efficiency and external financing that, in addition, contribute to the institutional positioning in the national and international sphere by preserving the prestige of the University.

Perspective

To be a strategic referent for the University’s linkage projects with its social, public and productive environments oriented towards academic strengthening, where institutional interest prevails, the search for knowledge, commitment to society and the timely dissemination of results, narrowing the links of collaboration and development of the university community with the educational, productive, governmental and international sectors with solutions for the benefit of society, maintaining the principle of integrity. Incorporating linkage modalities that respond to the requirements of the society of knowledge, and expanding the diversification of sources of financing for the University.

Purpose
